Pura Dalem Kahyangan Kedaton, commonly known as Pura Alas Kedaton, is a historic temple situated within a 12-hectare protected forest in Kukuh Village, Marga District, Tabanan Regency. Established in the 14th century during the reign of King Sri Masula Masuli, the temple is attributed to the revered priest Mpu Kuturan. The temple complex is unique, featuring four entrances leading to the central courtyard, with the main entrance facing west. Notably, the inner sanctum is situated lower than the middle courtyard, a distinctive architectural feature. The surrounding forest is inhabited by sacred monkeys and large fruit bats, considered guardians of the temple. Local customs prohibit the use of fire, including incense, within the temple to prevent potential forest fires.
