Ulundanu Beratan Temple

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, also known as Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, is a significant Hindu Shaivite water temple located on the shores of Lake Beratan in the mountains near Bedugul, Bali. Built in 1633, the temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the Balinese water, lake, and river goddess, highlighting the importance of Lake Beratan as a primary source of irrigation in central Bali. The temple complex comprises five shrines, including the prominent 11-tiered pelinggih meru dedicated to Shiva and his consort Parvati. The unique architectural design features traditional Balinese elements, with thatched multi-tiered roofs and intricately carved gates. The temples location at approximately 1,200 meters above sea level provides a cool and misty atmosphere, often creating an illusion of the temple floating on the lake. This picturesque setting, combined with its cultural and historical significance, makes Ulun Danu Beratan Temple a must-visit destination for those exploring Bali.
