Tanah Lot Temple

Tanah Lot Temple, known locally as Pura Tanah Lot, is a 16th-century Hindu shrine perched atop a rocky outcrop off Balis southwestern coast. Its name translates to Land in the Sea, reflecting its unique offshore setting. The temple is dedicated to Dewa Baruna, the sea god, and is part of a chain of sea temples established by the priest Dang Hyang Nirartha to honor and protect the island from evil spirits. Accessible only during low tide, Tanah Lot offers visitors stunning ocean views, especially at sunset, making it one of Balis most iconic and photographed landmarks.
